Quepem: GESF’s Devappa Desai High School, Govind Desai Primary School and Cruzinho D’costa Pre primary School Fatorpa celebrated the 66th Independence Day with great patriotic fervour.
The management, staff and students were delighted to have Miss Gauri Desai Ex student of the school as the Chief Guest, along with her parents Mr Vinay and Mrs Sujata Desai. The dais also witnessed the presence of Headmistress Madam Mangala Desai, Mr Anil Faldessai Treasurer of GESF, Mr Vijay Faldessai and Mr Vithoba Velip members of the SMC.
The celebration began with the Flag Hoisting ceremony. Miss Gauri Desai was given the honour to hoist the flag for her outstanding performance at the SSC Board exams. The Headmistress Madam Mangala Desai welcomed the gathering and spoke on the struggle of the freedom fighters towards the freedom of our country. She urged students to study hard and become good citizens who will work for the development and betterment of the country. Master Purvansh Naik of Std VI and Master Vedant Vernekar delivered speeches expressing patriotic feelings.
The Chief Guest Miss Gauri Desai expressed her gratitude to the management for giving her this privilege to hoist the flag and for the love, support received from everyone during her schooling days.
Various competitions such as Patriotic dance, Poster Making and Depiction of National Leaders were conducted in the school.
Students were given prizes for the competitions held in the quarter half of the academic year.
The prize distribution ceremony was compered by Tr Roshni Desai and the programme was hosted by Miss Neha Faldessai and Miss Neeraja Gadgil.
