Panaji: The government statistics show that the mortality rate in Goa is on decline till August month despite the state being hit with deadly COVID-19 virus along with the rest of the world.
The comparative figures of the last to this year shows that between March to August, the mortality rate was 4.26 per cent with 6,633 people dying in the year 2019 compared to 4.08 per cent with 6,404 people expiring in 2020.
The figures are sourced from state government records and www.goanewhub.com intends to make no statement on severity of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The midyear population of the state during 2019 was 15,58,317 which went up to 15,70,349 during mid year of 2020.
