Margao: In a move that would help the government to know the amenities that are lying underneath the roads, Goa Forward Party Chief and State TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai said that there will be proper mention of these facilities in the Outline Development Plans in future.

The TCP department wants to start this process from Fatorda where the road between Arlem Circle to Ravindra Bhavan would have proper mapping of the utilities underneath which would be created by having dedicated ducts.

“The road between Arlem to Fatorda will be model road for the state of Goa. There will be dedicated ducts for each and every service,” he said.

“There will be no reason for digging the road. Usually it is dug for sewerage, water or fibre optic cables This model of development is for rest of Goa to follow,” the minister said.

“ Goa’s future problem would be what is underneath just like we are creating amenities and putting them underneath,” he said.

“Location of these utilities would be the next problem for the state of Goa. we are solving that problem with foresight,” he added.

“Each department will have its own mapping. We can look at putting all this as a part of ODP which will show this. It has never happened in the history of Goa but we can make provision to show this. Just not the buildings but also facilities underneath would be listed in the ODP,” Sardesai said.

“This should also happen in the coastal state. We have been generally digging the road just because we can’t locate the fault of pipeline. There should be a system and we are starting the system here,” he added.
