WHAT  IS A LOCKDO
WN?
A lockdown is an emergency protocol that usually prevents people or information from leaving an area. The protocol can usually only be initiated by someone in a position of authority.
The only services that will be allowed to run will be essential services, such as groceries, hospitals, pharmacies and banks.
The lockdown is initiated to flatten the curve of virus so that Hospitals can manage the patients .
What can you do during this lockdown
Confining ourselves to houses and apartments is making social media millennials go frenzy who think that the quarantine is as good as spending time in the prison, as most of are either working or students. Situations like these really bring out the worst and the best from people but if you follow the minimum guidelines of world health organisation and the central government there’s no need to panic. Now in Goa the lockdown was extended many times and is expected to extend, Since we are confined to our houses it makes one wonder what do we do with the extra time. The lockdown gives us ample time to engage ourselves in hobbies and things that we always wanted to do.

Here’s a story of Malcolm X who was imprisoned (lockdown) for 10 years in United states and how his confinement turned out to be a blessing in disguise:

Born in Omaha , Nebraska young Malcolm an African American boy was often tormented by the white supremacist The Klu Klux Klan , four of his uncles were murdered by white supremacist.  Malcom dropped out of school when his teacher told him that it was useless for a black boy to dream of being a lawyer . After spending few years in Michigan and Boston he moved to Harlem at the age of 18 where he got himself involved in Drug peddling  prostitution and pimping. At the age of 21 he was arrested and put in prison , spending his 1st year in frustration he resorted to reading at the prison library,  where he taught himself how to read and write . Malcolm learned about the history and philosophy of that the world had to offer him and when he was released in 6 years he became a renowned civil activist.  His time in confinement had changed his life .
He urged his fellow black Americans to protect themselves against white aggression “by any means necessary,” a stance that often put him at odds with the nonviolent teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. His charisma and oratory skills helped him achieve national prominence in the Nation of Islam, a belief system that merged Islam with black nationalism. After Malcolm X’s assassination in 1965, his bestselling book, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, popularized his ideas and inspired the Black Power movement.

Lockdown seems like a measly time to bring about transformation but hey, we can always learn that one skill we always wanted to learn or engage in the hobby or read that book. If we get involved in any one of the above we’ll definitely be a better person by the end of lockdown period . For all you know like Malcolm X the quarantine period might be a blessing in disguise.
