Panaji: AAP condemned in the strongest terms the attack on RTI activist Narayan Naik on Saturday.

AAP stated that Law and Order in Goa has been failing as the elections draw near and puts the blame squarely on the shoulders of the CM Pramod Sawant. Pramod Sawant seems too busy to pay attention to his portfolio as home minister and is more interested in campaigning for the coming elections & in a ceaseless PR campaign where the BJP is just patting it’s back.

Narayan Naik was attacked in broad daylight as he was exiting the Sancoale Panchayat building. It’s shocking that goons have the audacity to attack a citizen right outside a Govt office. How has the law and order situation in Goa deteorated to such an extent that people are being attacked in broad daylight?

Goa’s law and order situation has been deteriorating for a while now. On June 23 a police officer in attached to the Harbour Police Station was booked by the Verna Police for raping and cheating a woman from Mormugao. Immediately the next day 2 hawaldars and a PSI from Calangute Police Station were suspended for extortion. Even worse was that on June 29 three members of a family in Zuarinagar committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment by officers of Verna Police station.

“The situation of Law and Order in Goa has deteriorated to the most abysmal levels. Imagine goons being so emboldened as to attack an RTI activist in broad daylight!” said Rahul Mhambre Convenor AAP Goa. “The entire month of June has seen shocking cases in Law and Order and terrible lapses. While Pramod Sawant is busy campaigning for his next election he has let the law and order situation go to the dogs.” added Mhambre
