Panaji: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), an alliance partner in State government, said that “crisis in government will happen after Manohar Parrikar.”

“Crisis has not yet started. The crisis will start after (Manohar) Parrikar,” MGP President Dipak Dhavalikar told Goan Reporter Online Channel on Sunday without elaborating on what he means “after Parrikar.”

Dhavalikar said “government may suspend Legislative Assembly and keep it in suspended animation till by-elections (for legislative assembly constituencies) are held.”

“Suspended animation is the best way in democracy. But whatever I am saying is after Parrikar,” he said.

MGP with its three MLAs is a part of Parrikar-led alliance which also has BJP, Goa Forward Party and Independents as the partners.

Referring to the MLAs from Congress resigning to join BJP, Dhavalikar questioned “how many more defections should we face during this tenure?.”

“After the by-election, a stable government will be formed,” he said.

Two Congress MLAs Subhash Shirodkar (Shiroda) and Dayanand Sopte (Mandrem) had resigned in October last year to join BJP.

Dhavalikar said MGP is currently watching the situation. “We are watching the situation,” he said.

Despite being in alliance, MGP has decided to field their candidate in upcoming by-election where BJP has given tickets to their leaders.

Along with Lok Sabha, Goa will have by election in Shiroda, Mandrem and Mapusa assembly constituencies on April 23.
