Calangute Police have arrested 09 persons today on 22/01/2019 for drinking alcohol and creating nuisance in various public areas in Calangute area.
As per PI Jivba Dalvi today while on patrolling they found 09 persons drinking alcohol and creating nuisance in various public areas like footpath, pay parking areas and the beach.
Accordingly they were detained and brought at the police station and placed under arrest under section 34(IV) for drinking and creating nuisance in public area thereby troubling other tourists and disturbing the peace of the society.
Police arrested 03 persons from footpath, 04 persons from the beach and 02 persons from pay paring are while they were drinking alcohol and creating nuisance by disturbing the tourists and other public. The arrested persons are 1. Sandip Patil, age 34 yrs, 2. Narayan Patil, age – 35 yrs N/o Kolhapur, Maharashtra and 3. Thirupati Guddam, age – 40 yrs, 4. Kapil Anjanelu, age – 35 yrs, 5. Satish Babu, age – 32 yrs N/o Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, 6. Sagar Bentur, age – 23 yrs, 7. Raghavendra Megharaj, age – 25 yrs, 8. Rudresh Mahesh, age – 30 yrs and 9. Rajesh Nagarajappa, age – 28 yrs all N/o Karnataka respectively.
PI Dalvi informed that they have increased the patrolling on the beaches and other areas to curb this nuisance created by some tourists and they have managed to bring down such activities as a result of increased police presence.
The stringent patrolling will be continued and any such activity can be reported to the police immediately. PI Dalvi informed that as per section 34(VI) of Indian Police Act, 1861, police have the right to arrest any person who is drunk or riotous or creating nuisance in public.
In 2018 a total of 35 persons were arrested for drinking alcohol and creating nuisance in public by Calangute police.
