Panaji – Leader of Opposition got Ballot Position 3 for his Private Members’ Resolution on “Opinion Poll Day” while Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa got Ballot Position 1 for Private Members’ Resolution on “Political Reservations to Scheduled Tribes” in the first round of Private Members’ Resolutions which will come up for discussion on Friday, 19th July 2024.
It is now to be seen if the Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar admits the two Resolutions and take them for discussion in the upcoming session.
The Resolutions moved by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao is recommending to the Government to commemorate 16th January as ‘Asmitai Dis – Opinion Poll Day’ with Official State Function.
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa’s Private Member Resolution urges the Government to take immediate steps to provide Political Reservation to Scheduled Tribes of Goa.
I am hopeful that the Speaker will admit my Private Member Resolution and all the 40 MLAs will support it. Goa needs to commemorate Opinion Poll Day with great celebrations as the day symbolizes Identity of Goa, stated Yuri Alemao.
Scheduled Tribes are fighting for their Rights for a long time. It is now the responsibility of all the elected MLAs to show our Solidarity towards their genuine demand of Political Reservation. I hope Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar who is one of the Leader of ST Community will admit my Resolution and allow discussion on the same, said Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa.
