Panaji: While Congress is trying to score a brownie point with their political stunt of approaching Governor Mridula Sinha with the claim to form the state government, the real politics lies in the magical figure that is required to prove the majority.
Congress camp looked confident last evening that if Governor gives a chance, they will be able to get the required numbers to form the government. The party with 16 legislators with it, requires four more to form the government.
The real question is that if given a chance by Governor, which is looking to be a remote possibility, will Congress join hands with Goa Forward Party or MGP or Independents to form the government.
Congress is currently beaming with confidence with the induction of Girish Chodankar as its chief but will it also translate into the numbers on the floor? The question still remains as who will be with the congress to form the government.
Goa Forward Party has gone strongly with its alliance ties and their displeasure with the congress is likely to be fuelled due to induction of Chodankar, who is sworn political rival of Vijai Sardesai.
The congress has kept its cards near the chest. They are not ready to reveal their strategy, even if we consider this move seriously.
The current political move to meet the Governor might not result in formation of government but certainly it will help the congress party to boost the confidence of its flock.
