Fatorda: Margao Wholesale Fish Market Association has filed a complaint with Fatorda police against Milagres Fernandes, the contractor for illegally collecting money from the vendors & creating panic in the name of formalin in the fish.
Association’s President M Ibrahim has said that Fernandes has been illegally demanding money from the vendors/traders of the SGPDA’s Margao Wholesale Fish Market without any tender or work order from the concerned authorities.
Ibrahim has said that Fernandes was acting like a contractor on his own whims and fancies . He has also engaged private bouncers in the wholesale fish market who threaten the traders.
The association has also accused Fernandes of spreading rumours about formalin in the fish despite the fact that the state government has set up mechanisms for the safety and hygiene of the fish.
