When Doctors dress up as Santa Clause to meet children

Today morning witnessed a unique wish granting event conducted by a NGO – Make-A-Wish- India at Rugnashray Trust premises at Bambolim, in presence of Dr Shekhar Salkar, Goa Cancer Society.

 

Over 25 children diagnosed with critical illness like Cancer, Thalassemia, heart condition, end stage renal failure etc participated and got their wishes granted in a memorable way.

Volunteers of the trust and NGO engaged with the children to make beautiful Christmas trees greeting cards, Christmas posters and art work.

Parents and volunteers came together to ensure that the children had a good time and forgot the worries of their medical treatment.

Dr. Shekar Salkar on behalf of the Goa Cancer Society was present at this event, He said that “He appreciated the efforts done by Make-A-Wish India and was proud of his association as a medical professional and committee member of Goa Cancer Society.

He recalled the moment how Goa Cancer Society had granted a wish of owning a laptop to a special child many years ago, he added that it gives him immense pleasure to state that the child is healthy today and pursuing his higher education.

Doctors from Goa Medical College as well as students came together dressed up as Santa Claus and other cartoon characters ,sang Christmas carols and all the volunteers joined the children to have some fun.

Wishes of the children like a cricket kit, cycle, doll house etc along with Snack boxes, cake, chocolates were fulfilled by Santa in a fun filled event.
