Porvorim: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Tuesday said that the strict warning should be given to the IPS officers whose videos in Discos and Casinos are going viral.
Speaking on the floor of the House, Alemao claimed that the law and order situation in the state is deteriorating.
“There is absolutely no fear in the minds of criminals. In many cases there are even police involved with the criminals,” he alleged.
Alemao pointed out that the videos of IPS officers are going viral in which “someone (IPS officer) was seen in disco, some in casino.” “Strict warning should be given to them,:” he said.
The LoP said that the people of Goa have lost their faith in law and order machinery. “Law and order situation has sunk to the lowest,” he said.
Referring to the data of crime against women in the state as submitted through replies for the Assembly questions, Alemao said that cases of crime against women were 238 in the year 2020, 259 in 2021, 285 in 2022, 296 in 2023 and 154 from January, 2024 till date.
He said that during the last five years, 1,230 cases of rape, molestation, kidnapping have been registered of which only six are convicted.
Referring to the data tabled on the floor of the House, Alemao said that between 2020-2024, Goa registered 145 murders.
