Dona Paula: Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday met the family members of former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at their private residence.
Naidu arrived in Goa on a day-long visit to the coastal where he was welcomed by Governor Mridula Sinhna and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at Goa Airport.
The Vice President went directly to the residence of Parrikar at Dona Paula near here from the Airport before heading for a function at CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography.
“Today, I met the family members of Late Shri Manohar Parrikar in #Goa and conveyed my heartfelt condolences. I had a long association of more than 30 years with him. He was one of the finest politicians of modern times,” he tweeted from his official handler, after meeting the family members of former CM.
“Parrikar was simple, honest and dedicated. He walked the talk of simplicity. He was the epitome of integrity. His death is an insurmountable loss to the country especially to #Goa,” he said in a series of tweets.
“We should pay tribute to Shri Parrikar by imbibing his ideals, and following the path that he lit for us in public service,” Naidu added through yet another tweet.
