Goa: Vedanta Ltd says it is studying the demand notice; assures to co-operate with Mines dept

Panaji: A day after being served with demand notice to pay pending dues of Rs 97 crore by the Mines dept, the Vedanta Ltd has said that it is currently studying the order and will provide all co-operation to the department.
“The demand Notice issued by Director of Mines and Geology relates reconciliation of royalty on Iron
Ore which arises on account of varying interpretation of Office of Director of Mines
and Geology and ourselves”, Vedanta said in a press statement issued.
The company said that ‘We have been extending all possible co-operation to the Office of Director of Mines and Geology and shall continue to co-ordinate with
them.
“We have always been compliant with all applicable rules and regulations during the course of our business activities. At present we are studying the order and shall
decide on the future course of action in due course of time,” it said.
The company has said that the said demand notice does not in any way concern itself with any form of illegal
mining as the aforementioned reports may be perceived and interpreted
