Panaji: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone for the observatory tower on the new Zuari bridge in South Goa on Friday (tomorrow).

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that the Union Minister will break ground for the ambitious project at 6 PM in South Goa’s Chicalim village.

He added that the project was envisioned as part of the bridges spanning the Zuari River, connecting North and South Goa. Sawant mentioned that the tower would be situated at a height offering a panoramic view of Goa.

A senior government official said that the ₹270 crore project is being developed under a Public Private Partnership model and is expected to be completed in the next five years.

M/s Dilip Buildcon, the company that constructed the Zuari bridges, has also won the tender for this project.

“The tower will feature a revolving restaurant, an art gallery, and panoramic viewing decks,” he said.
