Farmers of Ibrampur are suffering due to the sudden release of water from the Tilari dam without giving prior notice to the people and many times they have to bear the heavy loss. The lives of residing on the banks of the river in this region, often endangered. The people of Ibrampur should get prior notice while releasing water from Tilari. It has been found that the Tilari Dam is not being managed properly. A high-level meeting will be held along with CM Dr. Pramod Sawant to find a solution for proper working of the Tilari dam system by appointing technical experts, said Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Defense Shri Shripad Yesso Naik.

The Union AYUSH Minister on Friday visited Ibrampur and Sal areas in North Goa, which have been damaged due to heavy rains for the last few days. Ibrampur Panchayat Sarpanch Sonali Vikrampurkar, Deputy Sarpanch and other members were present during the inspection.

Shri Naik said, in this region farmers and especially banana plantations farmers were found to have suffered a lot. The crop has destroyed due to rains and sudden release of dam water. Similar damage was done in this area during last monsoon also.
The farmers have now complained that despite the loss reported last year, they have not yet received any compensation from the government.

Shri Naik assured the farmers that he will have a meeting with CM Dr. Pramod Sawant and Agriculture Minister Shri Babu Kavlekar and convey the matter to them.
Some development works in Ibrampur and Sal areas are pending due to non-receipt of ‘No Objection’ certificate from the land owners. Locals have complained that the flow of the river is not functioning properly due to the obstruction of trees stuck at the “Bandh”. People are worried, if water is released from Tilari dam in current situation, then the problem will be aggravated. The height of Bandgara has to be raised a little higher to solve the problem permanently, Shri Naik observed.
