Two police constables suspended, FIR filed for assaulting a man during Holi

Ponda: Two constables attached to Ponda police station were placed under suspension and First Information Report was filed against them for brutally assaulting a man on Friday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Ponda) C L Patil told PTI on Saturday that the constables – Rama Khanekar and Omkar Mankar – were placed under suspension for assaulting a man at Codar village in Ponda police station jurisdiction.

He said that the First Information Report has also been filed against both the constables after they were accused of the assault in the formal filed by the victim.

As per the complaint filed by Ponda-based man, both the constables assaulted him on Friday when he along with his friends had gone for a bath at a river in Codar village after playing colours on Holi day.

The complainant claimed that both the constables assaulted him at least fifty times without any provocation. He has also said that he was also pushed in the police jeep and brought to Ponda police station, after threatening to file a fake case against him.
