Goa’s Tourism sector is witnessing a slow but visible revival bringing hope to a multitude of people who’re dependent upon tourism for a livelihood. Although the curtailing of charter flights will be detrimental, still we can salvage the season while exhibiting Covid caution.

2020 has been a devastating year for the Goan economy as Corona curtailed the flow of tourists. Travel & Tourism came to a standstill around the world and with that, the pillar of our economy too. Luckily, we’re witnessing an improvement as the year ends thus bringing hope for a better year ahead. But it doesn’t suffice to be elated by the slow revival, rather there should be a concentrated effort to ensure the sustenance of this pickup scenario. This can be ensured only by strictly imposing Covid Protocols which will guard against spread of Covid. When tourists and locals both find safety in the Covid measures, it will ensure a continuous & sustainable influx of tourists.

Government machinery should not relax with the revival but put in determined efforts in balancing the tourist influx with measures that will curtail the impact of carelessness that’s exhibited by the revelling tourists. Entry points are our first line of defence against Covid and Government should revamp the present situation. The laxity at borders should be replaced with renewed vigilance and stringent enforcement of Covid negative status. Awareness campaign involving the stakeholders is in order so that they appreciate the absolute necessity of Covid protocols if business is to be sustained. It needs to be impressed upon all that temporarily ignoring Covid protocols will only lead to permanent stoppage of incoming tourists and incomes thereof. It’s only when Goa is projected as a safe destination that the present revival will continue to upscale and Goa will once again be abound with tourists and bounce back to a vibrant economic revival.
