Three electricity dept workers died, two injured in a mishap

Panaji: Three workers of Electricity Department died on the spot and two others were critically injured on Thursday when a truck carrying them turned turtle at Borim village in South Goa.

A senior police officer said that three workers who were standing behind the truck carrying electricity polls were trapped when the vehicle turned turtle.

The truck was lifted with the help of a crane belonging to Fire and Emergency Services. All three were found dead, he said.

The truck turned turtle little before a bridge over Zuari River in Borim village in the afternoon.

State Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said that he is rushing to the spot and compensation would be paid to the families of the deceased.

  1. Why should Nilesh Cabral pay for compensation when no safety standards were followed in transportation of electricity poles?

    Why is the police not taking action against ferrying of workers in open trucks, which can also be seen by Dilip Build Co that workers are transported on trucks in front of the policeman.
    When an incident occurs and lives lost only then will action be initiated?
    Is Safety services compromised?
