Panaji: In the state cabinet today, the resolution was moved to recommend to the State Governor Mridula Sinha to pardon the aged prisoners who are ailing behind bars.

“Governor had requested me to consider the cases of genuine prisoners who are aged and ailing behind bars. So accordingly we have decided to recommend to the Governor to pardon remaining years of sentence of three prisoners who are really deserving,” Parrikar said.

Amongst the prisoners, the chief minister, 91-year-old Gurudas Naik who has spent more than ten years behind bars would be released.

The relief would also be given to Mario Jose D’Silva, a 73-year-old ailing prisoner and Shivaya Parihar, a 73 year-old-blind man, all of whom are currently in Correction Facility at Colvale in North Goa.
