Panaji: Goa police on Tuesday said that the motive behind Suchana Seth murdering her four year old son at an apartment at Calangute is yet to be established, while the accused has claimed that her relations with her husband were estranged.
Superintendent of Police (North) Nidhin Valsan told reporters near Panaji said that the team of Goa police, which is investigating the case, is currently in Chitradurga district in Karnataka. He said that the accused has been formally placed under arrest and is on the way to Goa, till Tuesday afternoon.
Valsan said that the accused has been booked by Calangute police under 302 (murder),201 (destruction of evidence) and also under Goa Children’s Act.
The SP said that the motive behind the murder would be established only after her interrogation. “What she has told us till now is that her relation with her husband were estranged and they were undergoing the divorce proceeding,” he said.
The accused is originally from West Bengal and currently has been staying in Bengaluru while she was married to a Keralite. Police said that the husband was in Jakarta and has been informed about the incident.
Valsan said that the accused had packed body of the child in the luggage. He said that the exact cause of his death would be established only after postmortem is conducted.
