Valpoi: COVID-19 has broken back of the poor and marginal in the country and Sattari is not an exception to it. While small-time vendor try to sell their produce at the roadside during this difficult time, some of the activists harass them. Valpoi Municipal Council has failed to protect their interest.
Locals claimed that the farmers, who grow vegetables at their backyard in different parts of Sattari, sell it sitting at the roadside. But few activists, in the name of curfew, often harass them. The complaints to Valpoi Municipal Council fetch no response.
“Its unfair that few activists try to threatened the road side vendors who sells the vegetables and fruits. We even called the local authorities to stop this activities and claim these people as nuisance and law breakers but they failed to take action on them,” said a local vendor.

No doubt such illegal activities to be stop as curfew is underway, but why this same law is not applicable to some rich dominating shopkeepers like jewellery and cake shops. Are the law is different to this people?, they question.
