Panaji: With the objective of providing better service to the public, the Transport Department has started issuing Special Permit to the Passenger Motor Vehicles at RTO checks posts from today.
More so, these permits will now be issued 24×7 throughout the year.
The special permits to the passenger motor vehicles like motor cab, maxi cab and busses and Temporary Permit to the Goods Vehicles having Registered Laden Weight (RLW) of more than 3000 kgs are now been issued RTO Border Check Posts situated at Dhargalim (Pernem), Dodamnarg (BIcholim), Keri (Sattari), Mollem (Sanguem) and Pollem (Canacona).
Earlier, the owner of the vehicle had to approach the Directorate of Transport Panaji to take a Special Permit for passenger vehicles and had to approach the Regional Transport Authority to obtain Temporary Permit for goods vehicle intending to travel outside Goa.
The said permit were issued only during office working hours. Hence the public desiring to travel in emergency on public holiday or on Saturday/Sunday could not avail this facility.
