Panaji: The Special Investigation Team of Goa Police investigating Goa Assembly’s House Committee report on politician-politician-drug paddler nexus has given clean chit to former State Home Minister and Congress MLA Ravi Naik and his son.
A senior official said that the SIT has prepared the 50-page-long report, which would be submitted to the State government, this week.
The report has also ruled out role of Roy Naik, the son of former Home Minister, who was alleged to have nexus with drug lords as per the House Committee report.
Naik was a State Home minister during tenure of Digambar Kamat as the Chief Minister.
The House Committee in the year 2013 headed by then Nuvem MLA Miccky Pacheco had indicted Naik, his son Roy and several police officers for having links with the drug mafia.
The SIT was formed in January 2018 headed by Deputy Superintendent of Polcie Edwin Colaco which had begun investigations depending on the House Committee report.
When contacted, Colaco refused to comment on the findings of the report but another senior official said that total 15 people including Naik and his son were interrogated but no evidence was found against them.
“Detailed interrogation was conducted in this matter and we even called two persons who were not named in the House Committee report but suspicion about their links was found during the investigation,” the official said.
