Panaji: Several parts of capital city of Panaji were inundated on Tuesday night due to incessant rains that continued lashing the coastal state.
A senior official of Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) said that the flooding has been reported in the city including 18th June Road and Mala area, which are relatively low lying places.
The workers of CCP were seen working on Tuesday night to clear the drains which were blocked.
He said that since there is incessant rains, the drains were blocked with the garbage due to which there was flooding in the city.
The CCP official said that there was damage to the property at few places. “The actual situation would be known only in the morning,” he said.
The water inundated 18th June Road, which is the commercial street of Panaji. Water gushed into several shops on Tuesday night. There was knee deep in water in the shops.
Goa has been witnessing rains since last weekend, ending a long dry spell witnessed by the coastal state.
