Panaji: Ahead of forthcoming monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly, the North Goa district magistrate has imposed Section 144 CrPC prohibiting gathering of persons or organizing processions within the radius of 500 meters of Assembly complex, Porvorim.
The monsoon session will be held between July 15 to August 9.
DM also prohibited the carrying of firearms or weapons of offence such as lathis, swords, daggers or spears, the use of loudspeakers, the shouting of slogans, burning of fire crackers near Petrol Pumps and at the venue of the meetings etc.
Use of loudspeakers and shouting of slogans in any public place, street, road, square, thoroughfare, bye-lane or in any open space is also been prohibited.
This restriction shall not apply to public servants on duty, bonafied marriage or funeral processions or any special occasion or occasions which in the opinion of the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/ sub-Divisional Magistrate, are genuine and for which prior permission in writing has/have been obtained from the District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate or the Sub- Divisional Magistrate concerned.
The order will come in force with effect from 9.00 a.m. of July 15 and shall remain in force till Assembly Session is over.
