Rohan Khaunte to join BJP on Friday

Panaji: Rohan Khaunte, a former state minister in Manohar Parrikar-led cabinet, who quit as an Independent MLA will be joining Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday.

Khaunte resigned as MLA from Porvorim assembly segment on Wednesday.

“I have decided to join the BJP to ensure the continuity of Porvorim’s development as well as imbibe a culture of inclusiveness and togetherness,” he said in a statement released here today.

“While thanking you all fro the bottom of my heart for the decade long support and love showered upon me, I wish to inform you all that in consultation with my supporters and well wishers, I have decided to join BJP,” said the two-term MLA.

Both the terms, he had won as an Independent candidate from Porvorim assembly segment.

“I will be joining BJP on Frieday, December 17 and request you all to join me at Mahalaxmi Temple, Panaji at 10 am for seeking the Blessings of Goddess Mahalaxmi and thereafter joining at the BJP office at 11 am for our onward journey towards a progressive Porvorim with BJP,” Khaunte said.
