Porvorim: BJP leader and former Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte on Friday began his door-to-door campaning in the constituency after seeking blessings from Shree Vetal Chawdeshwar Maharudra Temple at Maina, Socorro.
Khaunte also visited Our Lady of Soccoro and Shree Ramwadeshwar Temple on the first day of his campaigning before reaching out to the voters. The former Porvorim MLA has been getting tremendous response from the people, who are vouching for his developmental initiatives in the constituency.
“After two terms of being Independent candidate, I am contesting on BJP ticket this time. People have always been supporting me as the voters of Porvorim are like a family to me, who have stood with me,” Khaunte told reporters.
He said that he would be visiting door to door in the days to come. “People have seen the development and my performance in the constituency. My upcoming term would be continuation of the development in the constituency,” he said.
Khaunte said that having Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the centre and BJP government in the state helps to accelerate the developmental pace. “It is important that state and centre should be on the same page, which can happen with BJP coming back to the power again.”
He said that some of the parties which arrived in the state three months back, faking cards and schemes will not be able to make any dent during the election.
“We will take forward all the issues of Porvorim and Goa as a whole,” he said. “I have always voiced the concerns and issues of Goa and our constituency. Getting into the party does not change my ideology nor my voice. I will ensure that the issues taken up by me are discussed and addressed to the government and solution is found in the interest of state and the constituency,” Khaunte.
Khaunte said that he is confident that his well wishers, voters and supporters will give him highest margin in Bardez.
