November 20, 2024: The Directorate of Art and Culture has declared the results of the state-level boat festival organized on the occasion of “Tripurari Pournima,” celebrated on November 15, 2024, at Vitthalapur, Sankhali, Goa. The first prize has been awarded to Kalyugi Boys, Vithalapur Sankhali. Valwanti, Poriem, Sattari has been awarded the second prize, while the third prize has been awarded to Talkhameshwar Boys, Parye, Sattari. The fourth prize has been awarded to Ravalnath Boys, Parye, Sattari, while the fifth prize has been awarded to Vatareshwar Boys, Parye, Sattari.
The first consolation prize was given to Kalkin, Karapur, Bicholim, the second consolation prize was given to Sairaj Pednekar, Tulshimala, Paye, Sattari, and the third consolation prize went to Bhoothnath Boys, Amona. The fourth consolation prize was given to Raghuvansh Kala Sangh, Kumbharjuva, and the fifth consolation prize went to Taleshwar Boys, Parye, Sattari.
The following were given honorariums: Unique Boys, Parye, Sattari; Kavisha Royal, Parye, Sattari; Shiv Boys, Vithalapur, Sankhali; Parvati Nagar Youth, Sarvan Sankhali; Dipesh B. Fogueri, Bicholim; Jai Bhavani, Parye, Sattari; Swayambhu Boys, Vithalapur, Sankhali; Rajwada Royal, Vithalapur, Sankhali; Varun Pakshi, Vithalapur, Karapur, Sankhali; and Baba Technology, Amona.
Participation allowances were given to Sunshine, Dead Devil, Angel Boyz, and Ganraj Boys.
The state-level boat competition was judged by the Assistant Professors from Goa College of Fine Art, Panaji – Goa: Shri Sagar Gaude, Shri Gopal Kudaskar, and Shri Rajesh Chodankar.
This festival was organized by the Directorate of Art and Culture in association with the Department of Tourism, Goa Tourism Development Corporation, Department of Information and Publicity, Deepawali Utsav Samithi, and Shree Dev Vithal Panchayatan Devasthan, Vithalapur Sankhali, Goa.
The prizes will be distributed in a separate function. The date and venue of the prize distribution ceremony of the competition will be informed later.
A total of 24 boats designed by the participants were part of the boat competition, witnessed by more than ten thousand spectators.
Besides the boat competition, other attractions at the festival this year included a musical concert by SA Re GA MA, Kolhapur; Bharatnatyam by Yogita Gawande; Karaoke Singing by Sarvesh Phadke; lamp dance by Sai Krupa Morle Colony, Sattari, Goa; Deepdaan in the river; Lord Shree Krishna and Vittal Rakhumai procession; releasing of traditional “Saranga” in the sky; burning of the effigy of Tripurasur; and a presentation of the Dashavatari Drama.
The festival was graced by the Minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude; Minister for Tourism, Rohan Khaunte; Premendra Shet, MLA Mayem; Sagun R. Velip, Director of Art and Culture; Siddhi Prabhu Porob, Chairperson, Sankhali Municipal Council; Tanvi Sawant, Sarpanch of Village Panchayat Karapur Sarvan; and the President of Deepawali Utsav.
