Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today stated that he would challenge before the High Court the order of the Goa Children’s Court acquitting Remo Fernnandes in the minor girl verbal abuse case. The President of the Children’s Court Judge Vandana Tendulkar on 6th September acquitted Remo Fernandes in the 2015 case.
Recalling that on 17th December 2015 while he was on my way to the Margao Court he had received a call from the then Rector of Bom Jesus Basilica Fr. Savio Baretto that on 1st December a poor minor girl from Malvan who was on a pilgrimage by foot to Old Goa was knocked down at Guirim by a speeding car being driven very rashly by Remo Fernandes’s son, Adv. Rodrigues has stated that on his way back from Margao he visited the victim at the Goa Medical College and the very same evening lodged a complaint at the Mapusa Police Station as the accident and neglect of the minor girl by Remo Fernandes had occurred and started at Guirim while the investigation case was later transferred to Agacaim Police Station as the further abuse of the victim girl had taken place at the Goa Medical College in Bambolim.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that it was absolutely incomprehensible as to how the Judge in her order acquitting Remo Fernandes had very wrongly observed that there was delay on his part in filing the complaint and that it was filed at the wrong Police Station.
Pointing that that the Judge in her order had travelled way beyond the canons of law especially making uncalled for and unwarranted observations, Adv. Rodrigues has stated that he would urge the High Court to decide whether that judgment was in accordance with Law or whether the verdict was perverse.
