Panaji: Congress has its leader Prasad Amonkar as a front runner for candidature during upcoming by election in Panaji.
While the party is bracing up to face all the four by-elections and Lok Sabha poll, the local block from Panaji has been insisting to have fresh face as a candidate.
Sources stated that Prasad Amonkar, who is heading the block, has emerged as a front runner while former Mayor Surendra Furtado and businessman Yatin Parekh are also in the race.
Several leaders in the block are supporting Amonkar as he is fresh face compared to the others who have unsuccessfully tried to contest the polls in the state capital.
The block committee which has been holding series of meeting is rallying behind Amonkar, who is a young candidate and has a capability to attract voters, said a senior party official.
