PM’s address to State: Goa could achieve 100 per cent vaccination due to the help of central government: CM

Panaji: Welcoming the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goa could achieve 100 percent vaccination due to the support from the central government. “We have completed cent per cent first dose while second dose has covered 42 per cent of the eligible population,” he said.

He said that the negative wastage is six percent , which is one of the achievement of the state. Sawant said that the front line workers were inoculated since January in the state, which was later introduced in a phased manner in the coastal state.

The chief minister said that the vaccination drive was accelerated through Tika Utsav initiatives, which were taken to all the villages across the state. He said that on the Birthday of the Prime Minister, the record breaking vaccination has been done. Sawant said that Tika Utsav 3.2 was introduced, which will continue for eight days.

He said that various departments were involved in the vaccination program due to which hundred per cent vaccination could be achieved.

We also involved local panchayat members, MLAs and ministers in the initiative. The religious leaders and influential persons were also roped in the program appealing people to participate in the vaccination, he added.

Sawant said that there were challenges like internet connectivity, hesitancy, incessant rains, cyclone and floods were fought back successfully by the state.

The chief minister said that by October 31, Goa would be the first state in the country to completely vaccinate the eligible population with the second dose.
