Valpoi: The most of street lights of Valpoi town are not functioning properly since past many days. Locals are facing the problems during the night hours. Locals have complaint many times to the Valpoi Electricity Department, but there is no action taken on their plea.
With several parts of the road in dark during night, several motorists have met with accident, many of whom have hit the cattles sitting on the street.
“I have call on phone to the Electricity Department Valpoi, which is situated in Velus and I have informed them regarding the non functioning of street lights of Valpoi town many times. They told us that they will check. But they have not visited till date check the street light,” says a local.
Many cattles squat during night hours and there is a speed breaker on the same section. Many motorist either falls or hit these cattles. The Civic body should take this responsibility to direct the power department to carry out the maintainence work. So that these poles serve the purpose before its too late” said a local.
The section of road was put into dark since past several months. Even after repeated verbal complaints from the locals no measures have taken to restore the non functioning lights, says a another local.
The Valpoi Municipal Council, Chairperson Akhtar Shah says he have already told the Electricity Department regarding the Valpoi Town street light matter. However, no concern authority take responsibilty till date.
The Official of Power Department said they have not received any such written complaints and they cannot restore the power supply to these poles due to the lack of fixtures.
