Panaji: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi next week. Sources said that though this would be his courtesy visit, the issue of mining resumption in Goa would be taken up during the meeting of both the leaders.
Sanvordem MLA Dipak Pawaskar after meeting the chief minister said that “Parrikar would be in Delhi next week to discuss the issue of mining with the Prime minister.”
He said that Parrikar will go alone and without any delegation.
Pawaskar who was the only MLA to remain present for the meeting with the CM today said that all the options including auctioning of leases, forming a corporation or passing an ordinance are open.
“Even if we give extension to the leases, we will take time to get the Environment Clearance. Our aim is to ensure that the mining resumes as soon as possible,” Pawaskar told reporters.
Surprisingly, other MLAs from mining belt including Pramod Sawant, Nilesh Cabral, Pratapsinh Rane, Rajesh Patankar were not present for the meeting, forcing the chief minister to postpone it to next date.
