Panaji: Padma Bhushan Laxman Pai passed away at his residence in Goa, sources close to him stated.
Pai was 95.
The sources close to his family stated that he passed away at his residence at Dona Paula on Sunday evening.
In the tweet, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said “Deeply saddened by the passing away of renowned Goan artist Padma Bhushan Shri Laxman Pai. Goa has lost a gem today. We will always remember his immense contribution in the field of art. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Om Shanti.”
Born in the year 1926 in Goa, Pai is a recepient of several awards including Padma Bhushan , Padma Shri, Nehru Award, Lalit Kala Akademi Award and others.
