One died, 13 injured when truck falls in the valley, CM, minister joins the rescue op

Panaji: One died on the spot and thirteen others including five children were seriously injured when a truck fell into a valley near Quepem town, in South Goa on Saturday night.

Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant and state social welfare minister Subhash Phal Desai who were crossing the road after finishing their election campaign joined the rescue work along with the locals.

A senior police official said that one person died on the spot while three others including five children, five men and three women were seriously injured, as they got trapped inside the truck.

He said that all the victims were sitting on the carrier of the truck which turned turtle in the valley after driver lost the control over the vehicle on Saturday night. Police said that it was self accident and the cause would be known during the investigation.

CM and the minister reached the spot, within minutes of the accident, and joined the rescue work along with police, Fire and Emergency services and the locals.

All injured were removed from the truck and immediately shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital near here in the Ambulance.
