Quepem: Police have arrested one Shailesh Velip in connection with the murder of Valencia Fernandes whose body was found at Rivona this morning. While police are tight lipped over the role of the accused, the girl was apparently missing from her home since June 6.
The parents of the girl have lodged missing complaint with Maina Curtorim police as she went missing since June 6 evening. The body was found on June 7.
Sources stated that the marks on her legs indicate that after being murdered, the girl was dragged by the accused. The victim was working as a medical attendant in Margao.
Police traced location of the girl through her mobile phone, whose signal was on even after her murder.
Police Inspector Roy Pereira was not available for information as he was busy in the formalities.
Police are also investigating whether more than one person was involved in the murder.
