Panaji: Goa government on Wednesday announced introduction of Blue Cab service from Manohar International Airport from January 05 onwards when the first flight will land at this newly built facility in North Goa.

Talking to reporters, Godinho said that the state government has decided to introduce Blue Cabs at the Airport for the passengers. “These cabs would be exclusively owned by Pernem taluka residents where the Airport is located,” he said.

In addition to the Blue Cabs, the Airport will also have Taxis affiliated to Goa Miles App and also those who are registered under state run Goa Taxi App, he said.

Godinho said that the local taxi operators had demanded Yellow and Black Taxi permits for them at the Airport, which was not possible, due to which the State government decided to introduce Blue Cabs for them. He said that the Blue Cabs will fit in perfect for the tourist state like Goa.

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that more than 1,100 drivers have registered themselves under Goa Taxi App till date while more are coming on board.

He said that the Goa Taxi App is currently allowing the Taxi operators to join the queue at the Airport. The booking of the Taxis using this App is not happening at this point of time, Khaunte said.
