No case of drug abuse reported at Sunburn so far- Police

Panaji: Goa Police on Sunday said that no cases of drug abuse have been reported at Sunburn venue.

In a press statement issued, Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Goa Police said that so far police has been successful in prevention of drug usage and no case of drug abuse has been reported at Sunburn, which is held at Vagator in North Goa.

Two tourists died at the entry gate of Sunburn on Friday evening. The postmortem report is yet to be out. However, the opposition parties have alleged that the death is due to drug overdose.

ANC has further said that newly trained Dog Squad is been deployed to scan the premises of the venue and detect use of drugs.

“Drug sniffer dogs have been deployed for the first time in a public event at Sunburn 2019,” ANC said.

Three undercover teams of ANC deployed inside the venue for active detection, police said.

Amongst other measures taken up includes tie up with Forensic science Laboratory (FSL) which has come with hi tech devices to detect and confirm drugs and three tier frisking at the gates under supervision of police staff.
