Panaji: Utpal Parrikar has refused to unveil his plans about joining BJP but said that new President Damu Naik is working on an ideology which is in alignment with his thoughts.
Talking to GNH, Parrikar also said that during the by-election, held after the demise of his father Manohar Parrikar, he was refused a ticket because some state leaders had a grudge against him and his father.
Responding to questions posed by our Editor-in-Chief Rupesh Samant on the program Hub Encounter, Utpal said that he is waiting and watching how the new President works.
“If he does what we are expecting, then our wavelength will meet,” he said.
Utpal said that he had left the BJP on “certain principles.”
“I did not leave the party because of the ticket. Even during the by-poll, I was denied a ticket. A senior leader told me that 80 per cent of the cadre was with you; out of 13, 11 were supporting. But some people who were state leaders did not want me because of me or a grudge against my father,” he added.
