VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council on Friday issued stop work order to the Goa Shipyard limited directing GSL to suspend all construction activities for shipyard mordernization project failing which MMC would initiated action against GSL under section 184 of Goa Municipal Act.
The notice was issued following complainants from Mundvel ward councillor that residents of ward number 15(Mundvel) who are living in the vicinity of of GSL has been witnessing vibrations in their home as well as cracks to their structures due to ongoing works carried out by GSL in its premises. Later MMC officials inspected the site and found that the piling works for the foundation of the office building of Shipyard mordernization project was being carried out without taking proper precautionary measures as required due to soft nature of the soil. Finally after observing violations MMC Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes issued stop work notice to GSL.
