Valpoi: Poriem MLA Dr. Deviya Rane laid the foundation stone for the construction of an irrigation tank in the field of Shri Puno Ladu Gaonkar at Hivre Village, Thane Panchayat, marking a significant step toward ensuring sustainable water management and agricultural support for the local community.
The initiative, undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹28 lakh, was proposed following a request from Village Panchayat Dong-Thane, recognizing the need to store and utilize the natural freshwater spring that flows throughout the year—even during the peak summer months.
During the visit, the residents of Hivre Khurd expressed the need for a structured water storage facility, which would serve as a lifeline for irrigation, drinking water, and other essential needs.
This irrigation tank will not only enhance water conservation efforts but also provide long-term benefits to farmers and villagers by ensuring adequate water availability for their fields and households. With this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to rural development, sustainable agriculture, and improving the quality of life for the people of Sattari Taluka.
