Panaji: Goa police on Tuesday arrested Mizoram-origin youth for raping 60-year-old woman at a beach village of Anjuna in North Goa.
Police said that the accused also tried to kill the victim after raping her in her room on Tuesday night.
22-year-old Lalrinnunnaj Lal Fakzuala was arrested for raping 60-year-old woman at Anjuna.
The incident happened when the victim was sleeping in her room, and the accused working as a waiter in a restaurant entered in, the spokesman said.
Police said that the accused also tried to kill the woman by smothering her with the use of pillow but other waiters rushed to her help when there was a noise.
The accused was handed over to police by other waiters, who found that, he had raped the woman before trying to kill her, police said.
