Panaji: BJP today said their alliance member MGP filing a petition seeking disqualification of two leaders before the High Court has stirred uneasiness amongst the other partners.

MGP has filed a disqualification petition before Goa Bench of Bombay High Court on Monday seeking to disqualify two former Congress MLAs – Subhash Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte – who had resigned from the party and membership of the House to join BJP.

“The MGP has filed petition which has created uneasiness amongst the other alliance partners. We condemn the action of MGP to approach the High Court against the two leaders,” BJP Goa State General Secretary Sadanand Tanawade told reporters on Wednesday.

The BJP leader, however, said that they will not request MGP to withdraw the petition, but instead will fight it out in the Court.

Tanawade said that MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar and other office bearers of the party are eyeing for publicity through such kind of tactics.

“They are also worried that they might lose their MLAs in similar fashion that of Congress,” he said referring to the exit of Sopte and Shirodkar from Congress party.

Tanawade said that both the MGP ministers – Sudin Dhavalikar and Manohar Ajgaonkar along with their party MLA Deepak Pawaskar are firmly with the coalition government.

“Sudin Dhavalikar has been doing tremendously good job,” he said referring to the State Public Works Department minister.

“While on one side Sudin Dhavalikar has been issuing media statements that the government is working smoothly, his party President (Deepak Dhavalikar) is making contradictory statements which results in the entertainment for the people,” he said.
