Meeting held to review preparations to checking suspected coronavirus carriers at Goa airport

Panaji: A top level meeting was held in Goa on Thursday to review the preparedness for checking the passengers for possible Coronavirus infection at state’s lone airport in Vasco town, 40 kms away from here.

State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane chaired the meeting held at Dabolim airport which was also attended by Union Health ministry’s joint secretary Alok Saxena along with the officials of Airport Authority of India, Goa health department and others.

“We have taken all the adequate precautions to check the passengers arriving at the airport. We are ensuring that all the passengers are scanned and suspected cases are identified,” Rane told reporters after the meeting.

He said that there are “full proof” arrangement at the airport so that the people in the state of Goa are safe from this virus.

He said that the awareness is being created about Coronavirus. “We are going to create  more awareness about it  in future,” Rane said.

Talking to reporters, Saxena said that the cooperation extended by all the state governments has helped in curbing the spread of Coronavirus in the country.

“Everyone is working in coordination with each other. Central government is monitoring all the arrangements,” he said.
