Panaji: Hours after leaders of Goa Forward Party led by Vijai Sardesai, Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte and others blocked the National Highway at Porvorim over Mahadayi issue, BJP has termed the entire episode as “political stunt.”
BJP Yuva Morcha leader Prashant Desai told a press conference in Panaji said that Mahadayi issue is not only of any party but of entire Goa. “They blocked the road without any reason. The opposition political parties are trying to get political mileage out of it despite the fact that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has planned all party delegation to New Delhi,” he said.
Desai said that the State government has taken up the issue on priority but opposition parties blocked the road creating inconvenience to the common people.
He said that the opposition parties could have handed over the memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar rather than blocking the road.
He pointed out that all party delegation also has members of Mahadayi Bachao Abhiyaan including Niramala Sawant and Rajendra Kerkar.
BJP leader Gajanan Tilve pointed out that chief minister had intervened within the shortest time when union minister tweeted on the Environment Clearance. “Despite knowing all the realities Vijai Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte and others created nuisance for the people,” he said.
