Life remains normal in Goa on Bandh day

Panaji: Goa witnessed no impact of the all India bandh call given by various unions protesting against the Farm Bills with all the activities continuing without any disruption.
Various political parties including Congress, NCP, Goa Forward Party, AAP and Shiv Sena has extended its support to the bandh, but they had said that the people will have to respond voluntarily.
“We have asked people to voluntarily join the protest. No one is forced to shut down their shops or industries,” AITUC Goa General Secretary Suhas Naik said. He said that the unions will hold peaceful demonstrations in various parts of the state.
The markets remained opened and also public transport in the coastal state, which is witnessing rush of the tourists who flock here in the month of December. The educational institutes too functioned as per the schedule.
The unions and the political parties will be gathering at Azad Maidan in Panaji during the day to show their symbolic protest against the Bill.
A senior police officer said that all the police stations were asked to be on alert but there is no news from anywhere in the state of people resorting to the Bandh.
He said that the police have continued their patrolling in various areas including some of the sensitive places.
Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Monday had said that the Bandh will have no impact on the state.
