Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar has demanded that state government must order impartial judicial inquiry into mysterious deaths of the patients who were admitted in COVID-19 isolation ward of Goa Medical College and Hospital.
“The Government must immediately order impartial judicial enquiry to investigate mysterious deaths of some patients in Covid19 isolation ward since lockdown was announced,” he said.
Chodankar pointed out that two patients, including a woman who passed away on Monday, had died mysteriously in the isolation ward of GMC where suspected coronavirus patients are kept.
“The Chief Minister and the health minister must come clean on whether all the protocols and globally laid down procedures on the death of Covid19 suspects had been conducted in Goa,” he said.
Chodankar said GMC authorities ought to explain as to why so many people with respiratory illness are mysteriously dying soon after they are brought to GMC and should spell out the treatment and services they are offering to such patients.
He alleged that Goa has witnessed series of deaths in GMC, that too in the COVID-19 isolation ward, due to respiratory problems, another death is added yesterday.
“But deceased have been declared COVID-19 negative. The Chief Minister should declare autopsy reports of all those who died of respiratory problems since March 01, 2020 and clear the doubts in the minds of the people,” he said.
“CM should also clear if Nasopharyngeal swab (NP Swap) specimen was taken for Covid19 test as well as a separate NP swab for testing of other respiratory pathogens as prescribed in standard procedure followed globally,” he said.
