IMD issues ‘Heavy Rainfall Red Alert’ for Goa for next three-days

Panaji: As the South-West monsoon has hit Goa coast today, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) as issued ‘alert’ for the coastal State predicting heavy to very heavy rains for next three-days.

IMD has advised public to abstain from outside activities for next 72 hours.  

“Widespread rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy spells likely to commence over South Konkan and Goa from 7th June onwards. Maximum intensity of rainfall is expected from 8th to 10th June 2018 with heavy to very heavy spells,” IMD has said in its press statement.

The south-west monsoon arrived Goa today.

“In view of intense rainfall forecast, people are advised to abstain from outdoor activities as much as possible during the period,” IMD said.
