Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress working President Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco’s midnight visit to the hotel where BJP State election incharge Devendra Fadanavis has been staying has raised the speculations.
Lourenco was found on camera leaving the city hotel during midnight of Monday. The GPCC Working President had refused to divulge purpose of his visit to the media, which was covering the BJP meeting at the same hotel.
On Tuesday, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar told reporters during a press conference that he had designated Lourenco to visit the hotel, where the meeting with an election strategist was scheduled.
“He had not gone to meet any BJP leader. We had scheduled meeting with an election strategist which was delayed and hence Lourenco went there during midnight,” Chodankar said.
The Congress leader said that his meeting should not be misunderstood as “one cannot screen the hotels for the presence of BJP leaders in it.”
Lourenco told reporters on Tuesday that he was supposed to meet election strategist but moved out immediately when he found that BJP leaders were in the same hotel.
“I went there and go to see, everybody from BJP was there in the same hotel. I thought of moving back immediately,” he said.
Lourenco said that he is loyal with congress party and there stands no chance of he changing his political affiliation.
